Web sites for family history and local studies
Lancashire County Library and Information Service now provides access to the Ancestry family history site through our Online Reference Library. This is available in all our library premises and at Lancashire Record Office and , amongst a host of other sources, provides access to Census Records for England, Wales, Scotland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands for the period 1841-1901 and Birth, Death and Marriage records from 1837-2005 for England and Wales.
There are also many Family History and Local Studies websites linked to on our Online Reference Library . You can go to the History and Heritage category and then try the appropriate subcategories. You could also do a word search to find websites for your particular interest.
