NHS Fylde & Wyre CCG is made up of 19 GP practices, who care for around 151,112 patients (April 2017). The majority live in the districts of Fylde (48%, 71,816) and Wyre (50%, 74,964) with the remaining patients mainly coming from Blackpool (3%, 3,816).
Females account for a slightly larger proportion (51%) of the registered population than males (49%) and whilst over a quarter (26%) of the population is aged 65 or over, 24% are aged 24 or under and 50% are aged 25-64. Deprivation measures show that whilst Fylde is one of the least deprived districts in England, Wyre is more deprived than Fylde (based on the IMD 2015 average score). Almost a quarter (24%, 36,846) of the registered population live within lower layer super output areas (LSOAs) that fall amongst the 40% most deprived areas in England (IMD 2015 quintiles 1 & 2).
