Careers in Design and Construction

Lancashire is a place we are very proud of and we are proud of the role the county council plays in it too. As the fourth largest local authority in the country and the largest in the North, we serve 1.2 million residents and deliver a wide range of innovative, successful services that really make a difference to people's lives.

Who we are

The highways and buildings of Lancashire are a very visible part of the county, used by thousands of people on a daily basis. With the size of Lancashire we are constantly improving our infrastructure to ensure we continue to respond to the economic and housing growth that is happening in Lancashire.

With this significant amount of investment taking place there has never been a better time to work in this team, delivering projects that have a positive impact on the daily lives of residents, business and visitors alike.

Design and Construction Service is a multi-disciplinary team that provides both building and civil engineering technical design and project management expertise.  Annually, we deliver a comprehensive £50m capital programme which invests in the county council's property and highway assets, such as schools, libraries, museums, offices, roads, bridges, culverts and drainage systems.

Our team include architects, interior designers, structural engineers, building surveyors, quantity surveyors, building service engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, civil engineers, geotechnical specialists, bridge engineers, landscape architects and ecologists.
