You Can Foster

You Can Foster is a joint campaign between local authorities across the North West and Yorkshire to encourage more people living in the region to think about becoming foster carers.

Across the UK more than 85,000 children and young people are in foster placements, 10,000 of them in the North West. Securing a stable home environment for these children is vital if they are to have the best chances in life and realise their ambitions.  The campaign is aimed at replacing foster carers leaving due to retirement and natural turnover, combined with an increase in the numbers of looked after children. Could you foster for your local authority and help a child achieve their ambition? Watch the You Can Foster video to find out more.

Foster Care Fortnight 2017

Foster Care Fortnight™ is The Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and to show how foster care transforms lives. It is also the UK's biggest foster carer recruitment campaign.

Foster Care Fortnight 2017 took place from Monday 8 to Sunday 21 May and the online theme for #FCF17 was be #ProudtoFoster and #ProudtoSupportFostering. On behalf of our fostering service we would like to thank our carers and everyone who has helped us achieve incredible things this Foster Care Fortnight. We are still looking for people who can make a difference. If this is you, please do get in touch.  Be inspired by our Pinterest board of images of our foster carers and fostering team showing their support for this campaign.

We are always looking for new foster carers to care for the range of children who come into our care each week, with the greatest need being for foster carers for older children, sibling groups and children with additional needs.

We have a number of events taking place throughout the county, including information evenings. If you would like to attend one of our evenings there is no need to book but please arrive early to avoid disappointment. You will have the opportunity to meet experienced social workers and current carers and ask questions.
