“You’d Hear Them Jingle” exhibition (Clitheroe)

Saturday, 10 February 2018 from 12:00 - 16:00

at Clitheroe Castle Museum every day until Saturday 24 February.

“You’d hear them jingle” Views of Institutional Life : Voices from Brockhall and Calderstones. Includes
works from 'The Lost Sister', a Calderstones lost family story by visual artist, Melanie Sims.

Brockhall and Calderstones were large, long-stay institutions, mainly for people labelled as having learning disabilities. At one time, such places were common all over the country. Understanding how they came about, and who lived and worked there, provides interesting insights into changing attitudes and
practices towards people with disabilities. This institutional history has many echoes locally, regionally and nationally.

This event is free, no ticket required.

Free admission to the exhibition in the Stewards Gallery. Open Daily 12 to 4pm. Friday to Tues until 9th February, then open seven days.
