Gillibrand Link Road, Chorley

The link road comprises of a single two-way carriageway, which extends for approximately 1.9 km. The road commences at the junction of Copperwood Way and Ackhurst Road where a new roundabout is to be constructed. Along the length of the road there are two roundabouts to be constructed to serve proposed housing developments. The new road ties into the existing highway network at a new roundabout junction on Coppull Road. Four structures are to be constructed, viz:- Butterworth Brow Bridge, Gillibrand Park Bridge, Gillibrand Park Retaining Wall and the River Chor Occupation Bridge. Lighting will be provided along the full length of the road.

Consideration has been given to the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and bus operations, and all public footpaths that cross the route will be maintained or suitable diversion provided and two additional permissive paths will be incorporated into the scheme leading to the proposed country park in the adjoining Yarrow Valley.
