The Task Group

The Task Group has defined the over arching objective of the Pathfinder as ‘working towards a dynamic rural economy for Lancashire which is financially, socially and environmentally sustainable’, in addition to three key outcomes agreed with the Government Office North West:

  • Developing a model to ensure consistent and robust rural proofing of public service delivery throughout the county (rural proofing Local Public Service Agreements)
  • Testing the adaptability of existing rural funding programmes to address local needs and opportunities
  • Improving customer access to rural support mechanisms

DEFRA 'Challenge' to Lancashire Rural Pathfinder 3rd August 2005

A delegation from DEFRA came to meet the Lancashire Pathfinder task group on the 3rd August 2005. The objectives of the day were - see below. They were met by Andy Ashcroft, Rural Policy , Lancashire County Council and members of the task group.

A tour was arranged for them to illustrate some of the challenges facing the Lancashire Delivery Pathfinders. The tour included:

  • A community resource centre
  • A potential housing project
  • A holistic case study
  • A rural regeneration site
