Road Collisions - Validation and Recording of Personal Injury Data

  • Where does the data come from?

Lancashire Constabulary kindly provides injury accident data to the County Council so that we can improve road safety for people travelling in the County.

  • What data is held?

The only collisions recorded are those resulting in personal injury; even so, we hold records of 100,000 collisions going right back to 1981; these resulted in injury to more than 140,000 people.

The Accident Data Management Procedure explains how we process the data we receive. We strive to deal with the data sensitively, ethically and responsibly.

  • What use is made of the data?

The Publication Scheme for Collision Data explains the detailed information available for collisions.
