A giant hedgehog a duck and a bee were roaming Preston’s Flag Market last week to help celebrate the 10th Birthday of Lancashire Road Safety Group's ‘Together we can Make the Difference’ (MTD) strategy.
Road Safety Group Manager Neil Cunliffe said:
“Since its launch in 1998 over 26,000 individuals and companies have signed up to MTD, pledging to help make Lancashire’s roads safer.”
The Road Safety Group spent the day at the Flag Market to launch this years Roadlife magazine and to give out road safety advice. This year’s bumper edition features an exclusive interview with Hairy Biker Dave Myers, a behind the scenes look at Holby City and interview with some Grumpy Old Drivers, lots of road safety advice, news and fantastic competitions.
There were also lots of freebies and giveaways for everyone who came down. Some of the prizes included goodies from the Lancashire Hot Pots, signed football shirts from Preston North End and Burnley FC and special tins of Harrod’s biscuits.
Crowds gathered at lunchtime to see a one off penalty shoot out between PNE’s mascot Deepdale Duck and Burnley FC’s Bertie Bee. Refreshments for the day were kindly donated by Farmhouse biscuits, Foxs biscuits and Lancashire Tea, which were given out with the new Roadlife magazine.
Neil added:
“We invited people to join us at the event to celebrate the success of the strategy and to help us to improve over the next ten years. By making small changes everyone can make the difference and signing up to MTD is the first step on the journey to safer roads.”
Whether you drive, ride, cycle or walk we can all make small changes to make Lancashire’s roads nicer and safer places to be on and also make our journeys more enjoyable:
The day was a great success and we would like to thank everyone who attended and all the companies who donated gifts for us to give away. We would also like to encourage more people to pledge their support to help Make the Difference on Lancashire’s roads.
