Perfect Partner CD-ROM
Perfect Partner is the first comprehensive CD-ROM aimed at meeting the needs of the accompanying and Learner driver. The CD-ROM supports professional driving instruction. This can be used as a stand alone rsource or to complement the adivice given during the Pre Pass Support Scheme's practical course.
Included in the CD-ROM resource are dedicated sections for the Accompanying Driver with tips for carrying out effective practice sessions. It also contains a section for the Learner including applicable legislation and advice to help prepare for the theory and practical tests (including hazard perception).

Things you should know about young drivers:
- Learner drivers take between 2 and 5 seconds longer to recognise hazardous situations than most experienced drivers

Young drivers hold 8% of all driving licenses in the UK yet account for 17% of all crashes

The more accompanied practice Learners gain supplementing professional tuition, the more likely they are to pass the driving test and the less likely they will be to have a crash during the first two years out on the road.
Where can you get information to help give the right practice?
Learning to drive can be just as daunting for the Accompanying Driver as it is for the Learner during private practice.
Lancashire County Council’s Road Safety Group has developed the Pre-Pass Support Scheme to address this vulnerable group and work towards decreasing the level of risk of road crashes by encouraging and supporting extra practice sessions and thereby improving the driving experience of Learner Drivers.
Pre Pass Support Scheme Course
The course advises Accompanying Drivers of what is expected of them when accompanying Learners on the road and how to reduce conflicting information being given. Courses are available on a Saturday at a dedicated training centre in Leyland.
What will you get from the course?
A 3-hour classroom session focuses on the legal requirements of an Accompanying Driver, crash causation, stages of ‘L’ driver training (including theory and driving test), route planning and the problems Learner drivers face. Your Learner driver can also attend this session.
A 3-hour practical session is conducted by qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) to encourage safer driving techniques and update personal knowledge so as to align them more to the standards of professional tuition. The aim is for Accompanying Drivers to lead by example and become more effective mentors.
Whilst the Accompanying Driver is out with the ADI, your Learner driver will have the opportunity to take part in an interactive Learner driver workshop. This will include observation exercises, hazard perception practice and practical training in the Show-me Tell-me element of the driving test.
