Minerals and Waste Planning in Lancashire

Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Blackpool Borough Council, are in the early stages of preparing a Joint Minerals and Waste Development Framework.

When it eventually replaces the existing Minerals and Waste Local Plan 2006, the Joint Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF) will set out a strategy for future minerals and waste development. The MWDF will focus on issues such as:

  • mineral extraction
  • waste management and recycling
  • protecting mineral resources
  • restoring minerals and waste sites

The MWDF is a ‘folder’ or collection of individual documents known as Local Development Documents. These will collectively deliver the strategy and planning policies for minerals and waste development within The Joint Plan area. Please click here for more details of the MDWF and its Local Development Documents.
