Completion of the Heysham to M6 Link

Public Exhibition October 2005

A further public exhibition was held on Wednesday 19th October 2005 at Torrisholme Methodist Church on Norwood Drive.

When we held the exhibitions in May there was a lot of adverse comment about the proposed diversion of Torrisholme Road and the provision of a subway for use by pedestrians and cyclists. We have therefore redesigned the scheme in this area to enable Torrisholme Road to continue close to its present alignment. This has meant lifting the link road at Torrisholme Road. However the areas gained by not diverting Torrisholme Road have enabled us to provide more mounding and landscaping to hide the road. Additionally we have lowered the carriageway between Torrisholme Road and the Railway line.

The October exhibition was to show these amended proposals and to gauge the public's reaction to them. The majority of people spoken to that indicated a preference preferred the new proposals. Therefore these new proposals will be incorporated in the Planning Application due to be submitted in December.

Copies of the current scheme drawings can be found on the Scheme Drawings page.
