Highway improvement scheme on Eastway in Fulwood
The area to the North of Eastway in Fulwood is being developed as a residential area. Access to the development will be via a new roundabout at the junction of Longfield. Improvements are also being made to Eastway with the addition of cycle and pedestrian facilities, and two signal-controlled crossings. These works are being carried out by a local company, Eric Wright Civil Engineering, on behalf of the county council and will be completed over a period of 20 weeks. The works are due to finish in April 2017 due to delays with drainage repairs.
Although some amount of disruption is unavoidable, we have tried to do our best to ensure this is kept to an absolute minimum by specifying that the works be carried out off-peak i.e. 9.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays. However, during the construction of the roundabout, Longfield will be closed, again between 9.30am and 3.30pm, to try to avoid the majority of commuting and school traffic.
