Purpose:

Lifecycle planning is an important aspect of highway asset management and involves drawing up long-term plans for managing an asset grouping with the aim of providing the required levels of service at the lowest whole life cost.

 

The Structures Lifecycle Plan identifies maintenance strategies for various structures, linked to the Resilience Route Network and other factors. Adopting these strategies will allow us to target our resources to ensure the preventative maintenance is prioritised to support the Resilient Route Network and primary routes, so reflecting the investment strategy for carriageways. This Plan relates to road bridges and urban footbridges. Other Plans are proposed to be brought forward for other asset types.

 

Decision:

County Councillor John Fillis, the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport approved the adoption of the Structures Lifecycle Plan for Bridges and Urban Footbridges as set out at Appendix 'A'.
