The County Council has granted planning permissions for a number of exploratory drilling operations subject to conditions. Details of the planning permissions are as follows:

  • Banks Enclosed Marsh, Bonny Barn Road, Hundred End, Becconsall – Planning permission was granted for a vertical well including fracking on 20th October 2010 (Ref. 08/10/0973): http://planningregister.lancashire.gov.uk/PlanAppDisp.aspx?recno=5520
  • Banks Enclosed Marsh, Bonny Barn Road, Hundred End, Becconsall - variation of condition 1 of planning permission 08/10/0973 to extend the period of time for the testing for hydrocarbons in the drilled exploratory borehole and restoration of the site by a further 18 months until 28 March 2014(Ref 8/12/1032).   • Banks Enclosed Marsh, Bonny Barn Road, Hundred End, Becconsall – permission is sought for the retention of the site compound and access track for a further 3 years to allow pressure monitoring of the bowland shale reservoir, followed by plugging and abandonment of the existing exploratory well and site restoration (ref LCC/2014/0047).   • A further permission (ref LCC/2017/0016 was granted in March 2017 to vary condition 14 of permission LCC/2014/0047 relating to the noise levels and monitoring location during the works to plug, abandon and restore the site.
