8 March 2016 – decision to consult and publish statutory notice

13 July 2017 – decision to approve proposal

Background

Following discussions with the local authority in January 2017, Central Lancaster High School informed us of their wish to consult on the future of their post 16 provision due to concerns about its financial and educational viability. Central Lancaster High School has low student numbers and a minimal curriculum offer in its sixth form.

As a result of these discussions, the cabinet member for children, young people and schools made the decision for Lancashire County Council to proceed with the proposal. In accordance with the statutory process, a statutory public notice and the complete proposal have been published. Following the publication of the statutory public, a formal representation period will commence from 29 March to 31 May 2017, during which time interested parties are able to submit written comments on the proposal.
