Following a number of discussions with the local authority in December 2015 and January 2016, Ashton Community Science College informed us of their wish to consult on the future of their post 16 provision due to concerns about its financial and educational viability. Ashton Community Science College has low student numbers and a minimal curriculum offer in its sixth form.
As a result of these discussions, the cabinet member for children, young people and schools made the decision for the Lancashire County Council to proceed with the proposal. In accordance with the statutory process, a statutory public notice and the complete proposal have been published. Following the publication of the statutory public, a formal representation period will commence from 26 September to 24 October 2016, during which time interested parties are able to submit written comments on the proposal.
