Fostering Ofsted inspection report
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They regulate and inspect to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and education and skills for learners of all ages.
Ofsted inspectors spent a number of days with our fostering team in 2011 and have judged it to be outstanding.
In particular, the report praised the way in which foster carers – with the full support of the service – skilfully used warm, positive relationships to bring about changes in behaviour, and help often-traumatised children and young people to feel secure and happy.
Comments made by looked-after children to the inspectors included: "It is the best place ever", "I have lovely carers who look after me really well", and the simple line: "I love my placement."
The report said: "Overall, there are excellent arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of looked-after children. There are also outstanding outcomes in respect of children's physical and emotional health, and some exceptional educational progress."
