Information for members of the Lancashire County Pension Fund.

Lancashire County Pension Fund (LCPF) is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

LGPS is established in statute to provide pension provision for numerous public sector employers and other eligible employers. This includes Lancashire County Council.

Lancashire County Council is the Administering Authority for the LGPS in the geographical area of Lancashire and has delegated the role of Scheme Manager to the Pension Fund Committee. The Committee is supported by the Local Pension Board as set out in the Terms of Reference found within the constitution of Lancashire County Council.

You can find more information about the fund, including our governance arrangements on the LCPF website.

The LGPS is a defined benefit scheme which means you will receive a secure and regular income in retirement based on your salary and how long you paid into the scheme.

Along with a guaranteed income every year, the scheme offers other benefits including:

  • the option to take a lump sum on retirement
  • a pension for dependants on death of the member
  • death grant
  • early pension provision in the event of ill health at any age or redundancy after age 55

Pension scheme membership is also a valuable part of your remuneration package as pension contributions are deducted before tax and your employer also contributes into the scheme.

Your employer will provide you with information about the scheme when you start your employment and will automatically commence deductions from your pay. Your employer will liaise with our administration provider and fund throughout your scheme membership to ensure any contractual changes affecting your pension are appropriately recorded including when you decide to leave or retire from your employment.

Local Pensions Partnership Administration (LPPA) provide all administration services on behalf of the fund and the LPPA website provides more information about the scheme and how you can access details relating to your own pension.

The fund's assets are managed through a pooled investment arrangement with Local Pensions Partnership Investments (LPPI) an FCA regulated investment company. Further information is available on the LPPI website.
