Lancashire County Council is responsible for delivering many services including primary schools, secondary schools, providing support for vulnerable children and older people, maintaining the county's roads, disposing of waste and providing a stock of library books to the county's libraries.

In undertaking these services it has an annual budget for 2017/18 of £725 million.
