Welcome to your Lancashire
Become a councillor

Welcome

Ever thought of becoming a county councillor?

If you are interested in helping your local community or would like to influence the way things are done in your area then please read on.

On Thursday 4 June 2009, our voters went to the polls to choose Lancashire County Council's representatives.

County councillors are elected by the public to serve a four-year term - representing a particular area - electoral division.

Being a councillor is a privileged position which allows you to make a real difference to people's daily lives.

This website is aimed at providing information on how to become a county councillor and what's involved in being an elected member. All the information you need can be accessed by clicking on the links to the left.

An event was held for prospective candidates on the 23 March 2009 at County Hall, Preston.  Please see our make a difference leaflet for information.
