Climate change is not just a global issue that will affect future generations; it is happening here and now. The people, landscapes and businesses of Lancashire will all be affected, indeed, some of the effects are already happening.
Lancashire County Council has an important role to play in tackling climate change; both in terms of reducing emissions from council buildings and activities, and making sure that the county is better equipped to cope with the impacts on climate change.

Home insulation is now available FREE to all Lancashire residents.
If your home is not already insulated you could be losing a quarter of your heat through the roof and a third through the walls. By insulating your loft and cavity walls you could save up to £270 a year, every year.
Previously the scheme was only free to the over 70s and certain benefit recipients, with other homeowners needing to pay. Now the scheme has been extended to include all standard homes with suitable cavities and/or loft insulation less than 60mm thick.
Lancashire schools energy awards
Many schools in Lancashire are already working hard to reduce the energy and water they use, and their impact on the environment. The Lancashire Schools Energy Awards aims to celebrate these efforts, share your experience with other schools and encourage everyone to go a little further.

JOT to save this summer
This summer Lancashire County Council is encouraging people to JOT down what they are doing to make it a season for saving. JOT stands for "Just One Thing" and it is a campaign to show people how they can take some simple actions that could help reduce the impact of climate change while saving them money.
