Introduction

LSCB

The Lancashire Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)has a major role to play in ensuring that children and young people in Lancashire are kept safe and that all agencies do what they can to promote their welfare.

The Board itself is a made up of Senior Management representatives from agencies across the County who are involved in providing services to Children and their families.

Objectives

LSCB
  • To co-ordinate the work done locally by agencies represented on the Board
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • To ensure that the work done is effective and that it is outcome focused

Lord Laming explains reasons why such a Board is required in detail in the report he wrote into Victoria Climbié's death in 2002. Also, The Children Act 2004 puts the Board on a statutory footing, giving it legal responsibilities.

The roles and responsibilities of the Board are laid out in detail in a Government Document called Working Together to Safeguard Children.
