How is the training delivered The workshops will provide information and delegates will be expected to fill out their individual workbooks.

What does the course deal with?
The course provides Foster Carers with the knowledge and practical assistance to complete their CWDC Induction Standard Workbook which is mandatory for all Foster Carers. The 7 standards are:
 
  • Understand the principles essential for working with children and young people.
  • Understanding your role in the children's and young people's workforce.
  • Understanding health and safety requirements.
  • Know how to communicate effectively.
  • Understanding the development of children and young people.
  • Safeguarding children (keeping them safe from harm).
  • Develop yourself.  
What will you learn?  At the end of the course participants will be able to:
 
1.     Fully complete the workbook to a standard which is acceptable to the Fostering Service and Ofsted.
2.     Understand the meaning of the CWDC standards and how to put these into practice.
3.     Evidence their written work to comply with the standards.
4.     Gain the first step towards a common understanding and direction on induction for the children and young people's workforce.
Programme history
This is a newly commissioned module course to provide the opportunity for Foster Carers to complete the CWDC Induction Standards.
How will places be allocated Places will be allocated by the locality teams and shortlisted by key Supervising Social Workers.
