About Fostering

  • Children of all ages (0-18 years of age) and from various cultural and social backgrounds need to be placed in foster care for many different reasons.

  • Children's circumstances will vary dependent on their individual needs and family background.  Whatever the circumstances all of the children will be separated from their parents and will need foster carers to help them at a difficult time.

  • A foster placement provides the stability and normality that is needed for children in care to develop and help them through difficult times in their lives.  This means we need a range of different foster carers to meet the needs of different children.

  • Whatever your age or personal circumstances you can become a foster carer. As long as you have the commitment and room in your home and room in your heart to look after a child, you can help make a huge difference to a child's life.

  • People who foster come from all walks of life.  For example, you don't need to own your own home or be married, have a job or have children of your own.
