Interim population projections 2011 - 2021

In September 2012 the Office for National Statistics released an interim set of projections based on the 2011 mid year population estimates which were the first of these figures to be derived from the 2011 Census counts. The following article is based on these projections. Projected population figures are usually released every 2 years, but the publication of the 2011 census and mid-year estimates have provided a more reliable baseline on which to build the projections. The format of the data is different from the 2010 based projections, but the 2013 release should return to the standard formats.

Population projections 2010 - 2035 (pre-2011 census figures)

Prior to the release of the interim projections to 2021 in September 2012, population projections covering the period from 2010 to 2035 were published in March 2012 for each local authority in Lancashire, and split by 19 age-groups.

The release of the 2011 population census results gave a much more robust baseline from which to project forward changes in population. These projections to 2035 have therefore soon been partly superseded by the interim projections to 2021. We will however, keep this earlier article online until a new full set of projections to 2035, or perhaps beyond, is released in 2013.
