Welcome to our Equality website.

We are committed to improving the quality of life for all people in Lancashire. We recognise that some people do not get an equal chance in life and that this can affect their education, employment opportunities, health, and general wellbeing.

Our 'Narrowing the Gaps' Strategy aims to do just that – narrow the gaps between those with a good and those with a less than good quality of life. People can experience disadvantage and discrimination for a number of reasons, and the focus for the strategy is on providing support for people who experience disadvantage and discrimination because of their age; disability; ethnicity; faith; gender; sexual orientation; and/or socio economic status. The strategy also covers people who suffer discrimination because they are from Trans communities and people who are Carers.

Narrowing the Gaps is our corporate Equality and Diversity Strategy.  It is also our Single Equality Scheme.

The Coalition Government published its Equality Strategy in December 2010.  See documents below for more information:-
