Eco-Schools

Run and administered under the umbrella of the Tidy Britain Group, itself a national charity, Eco-Schools is an Environmental Programme for schools which promotes active citizenship. The Programme encourages schools to look at different environmental issues like waste minimisation, energy and water saving, healthy living, transport and school grounds. It involves all members of the school community working together to improve the school's environmental performance.

The Programme enables schools to work in a structured way that can be fitted into the School Improvement Plan. It allows children to have a voice and take part in the decision making process regarding any action that will take place in the school. Once schools have implemented various stages of the Programme they can apply for bronze, silver or 'Green Flag' awards.
