Preston Guild Rolls Online

Preston Guild Roll Transcripts

These are the full transcript databases of each Preston Guild Roll from 1397 - 1992, compiled by volunteers. Each Guild Roll gives a fascinating insight not just into who took part in the Guild, but how far they travelled and the trades that were operated in the town.

Please note:

Our volunteers have expanded slightly on each entry to make the hereditary connection more clear. For example, in the original roll it may state:

Swarbrick, John
Swarbrick, George           his son

Our database would state:

Swarbrick, John
Swarbrick, George           son of John Swarbrick

Where the surname is not expressly stated it has been inserted in square brackets.

Pre 1722 when the Guild Rolls were originally in Latin, place names, occupations and forenames have been Anglicised but surnames have not been altered.
