Volunteer Information Assistants operate the Visitor Centre at Beacon Fell Country Park. Meeting and greeting visitors to the parks, they are the public face of Lancashire Countryside Service.

Volunteer Rangers help to look after the County Councils parks, picnic sites, woodland sites and Access Land and give advice and assistance to our many visitors.

Befriending/ Mentoring

Befriending and Mentoring Volunteer (Preston)

 

Looking to gain experience towards a career in health and social care, a desire to share interests and meet new people or do you simply wish to make a positive impact to the lives of others?

Befriending/ mentoring volunteers support vulnerable adults either at their home or to become an active member of their community. Clients include older people; carers; people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs or sensory impairment.

Volunteers play a vital role providing the opportunity for clients to meet/ socialise with others, reduce social isolation and/ or offer respite to unpaid carers.

Independent Person

Independent Person (to assist with consideration of social care complaints)

 

 

Locations across Lancashire

 

The role of the Independent Person (IP) for Stage 2 Children Act complaints is to ensure that the investigation is conducted fairly for all concerned (you will not investigate the complaint).

 

There is no requirement for qualification, but you need to be sensitive to the issues around

provision of social care services for Children & Young People and have some working experience which will enable you to carry out the tasks as stated on the Role Description.

 

This opportunity requires the volunteer to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (there will be no cost to the volunteer) and you will also be required to sign an undertaking of confidentiality.

Trading Standards

Test Purchasers (14 – 16.5 years old only)

 

Locations across Preston (to be advised)

We are looking for volunteers to help test purchase age restricted products such as alcohol, tobacco, fireworks and knives.

You could be a test purchaser if you are; aged 14 – 16.5 years, discreet, honest and truthful, and are able to follow instructions and think on your feet.

Supporting Unpaid Carers

Supporting Unpaid Carers (Preston)

 

One of the most important aspects of the Adult Social Care Volunteer Service is providing support to unpaid carers of adults with learning disabilities. Caring for someone 24/7 can be challenging and tiring. 

As a volunteer you can help us to:-

  • Give carers a few hours break each week
  • ...and peace of mind at the same time
  • Provide friendship and support to those being cared for
