Assessment of learning, performance monitoring and effective target setting for all pupils

THE BRAND NEW PIVATS MODERATION FOLDER IS NOW AVAILABLE!

"When evaluating pupils’ achievement, inspectors should evaluate the school’s arrangements for ensuring the accuracy of its pupil performance data as there is no statutory moderation of P scales and this can lead to misinterpretation.
There should be rigorous moderation arrangements within school and across a local authority to assure the accuracy of the progress data being used by the school."

The History of PIVATS

The evolution of PIVATS
PIVATS was first published in 1999 and since its introduction it has become a leader in SEN assessment.

PIVATS is an assessment programme used nationally to measure pupil progress through the 'P' Scales and up to National Curriculum Level 4. As well as its use throughout the UK PIVATS is now being adopted by Local Authorities and District School boards across Canada, Australia, South Africa and other parts of the world.

Raising standards of achievement and developing a more inclusive education system are cornerstones of government policy that apply to all pupils.

The target setting for pupils with special educational needs or those who may be underachieving should be regarded as a strategy in the process of raising attainment and assisting individual pupils to make progress in curricular areas, including personal and social development. Both versions of the DFE Progression Guidance stress the need for challenging targets. PIVATS offers the mechanism to achieve this.
