News : New leaders for Preston Vision Limited

THE search for talented leaders to drive forward Preston's ambitious plans to become the North West's third city has taken a major step forward.

This week, Preston Vision Ltd, the company that is spearheading these plans, appointed eight non-executive directors.

The new directors are Roger Best, Nigel Blenkinsop, Jim Carter, Peter Church, Chris Earnshaw, Jeremy Gorrick, Lesley Lloyd and Andrew Thompson. They will take up their positions on 11 May.

Preston Vision Ltd is the organisation responsible for channelling funding from the NWDA and private sector businesses, into major regeneration projects across the city.

Projects in which Preston Vision Ltd is involved include Preston Tithebarn to regenerate the city centre, plans to create a new central business district, and improvements to green spaces and underutilised waterways.

The appointment of the non-executive directors was welcomed by Dr Malcolm McVicar, interim chairman of Preston Vision Ltd.

He said: “The new Preston Vision will play a crucial role in developing the economy of Preston and will help to bring real benefits to everyone who lives and works here. The new directors will bring energy, expertise and commitment to help us take the vision forward.”

The new non-executive directors will join Dr Malcolm McVicar, interim chair and vice chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan); Peter Hyett, executive director of finance for UCLan; Ged Fitzgerald, chief executive of Lancashire County Council; County Councillor Tom Burns, cabinet member for organisational development; Jim Carr, chief executive of Preston City Council; Councillor Ken Hudson, leader of Preston City Council; Ian Haythornthwaite, executive director of resources for the North West Development Agency (NWDA); Jean Hunter, chief executive of South Ribble Council and Councillor Margaret Smith, leader of South Ribble Council on the board of directors.
