Tips for improving your Rosebud application

1) Consider the potential risks and rewards of your business idea

Rosebud assesses each deal for the balance between risks and rewards involved (for both parties). So you need to show us that you have identified any risks and how will be controlled, and also that there are likely to be a fair share of rewards. Part of this involves the applicant putting a reasonable level of their own funds into a deal – so that they share the risk , rather than asking Rosebud to finance 100% of the requirement. As we aim to fill a gap that mainstream banks cannot meet, Rosebud won’t normally finance a business that has not already tried to secure bank finance.

2) Show confidence in your plans

Rosebud doesn’t just make decisions against the strength of a business plan – it also invests in the people or team presenting the pitch. Can you demonstrate a business acumen and commend a confidence that you can deliver the goods? Each business case is assessed on its own merits so if you think you have a good business idea, tell us about it.

3) Seek help from different sources for your application

Enterprise Agencies, Chambers of Commerce and Business Link as well as Banks and Accountants will be able to advise on preparing a convincing business plan.  The No-Nonsense Guide to Finance for High Growth and Innovative Businesses has some good advice on attracting equity finance and writing business plans for finance applications.
