Childcare in Lancashire

Section 11 of the Childcare Act 2006 requires local authorities to carry out an assessment of the sufficiency of childcare within their area.  The process will provide the Sure Start, Early Years and Childcare Service, with the evidence and information needed to facilitate and shape a market that contains sufficient, flexible, sustainable childcare and is responsive to parents' needs.

Lancashire's Childcare Sufficiency Assessment for 2008 has now been completed and the summary document is available online. It can be accessed for free via children's centres and libraries.

Please take the opportunity to complete the online response with your views and comments. Your feedback is most important and suggestions may be incorporated in to future assessments.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the assessment - we look forward to receiving your feedback.
