Money to learn

There are different ways to get financial support as you learn at college or sixth form.

Education maintenance allowance (EMA)

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) could give you up to £30 a week to help out with the costs of staying in learning after 16.     It's your money so you can decide how to spend it. It is paid directly into your bank account every week of your course - as long as you turn up to your classes.

Care to Learn

If you have children and are under 20, then Care to Learn can help pay for you childcosts whilst you learn.  For more information call the Care to Learn helpline on 0845 600 2809.

Learner support funds

Learner support funds are available through school sixth forms and colleges and can be used to help students aged 16 and over with the costs they may have when taking further education courses.
