Lancaster Maritime Museum's Family Friendly activities offer something for everyone. We have a fantastic variety of events and exhibitions inspired by our collections that will entertain all the family.

Our aim is to inspire children and their families. Children love to explore and discover what's going on around them and our activities let them learn new skills while developing their creative imagination.

Come along and join in at any one of our family venues.

Monty

Monty's Story Time Sessions - Stories and crafts for the under 5s.

Monty, the ships cat, welcomes little ship mates for his story and craft sessions on the first friday of every month. 1.30pm - 2.30pm. Why not join us for some fun!  

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Monty's sessions are free but admission to the museum may apply. £3 adults, £2 concessions, children and local residents FREE. For more information call us on 01524 382264.

Redcoat Bonnet Rocks Paper

May Half Term Fun

Come and join us for half term fun. This holiday we're looking at all things Georgian to tie into our new exhibition 'Money Money Money: Movers and Shakers in Georgian Lancaster', but we also have old favourites like the next instalment of our Stupendous Science Sessions.

Smugglers V Redcoats

Sunday 26th May, 12pm - 4pm

The 22nd Regiment of Foot return to Lancaster across the bank holiday weekend. On Sunday 26th they will take up residence at the Maritime Museum to take on any smugglers! Come and meet the Regiment, ask questions, and handle their weapons and equipment. Living history fun for all.

The Regiment will also be dropping into all the Lancaster Museums at different times across Monday 27th May.

Make a Georgian Bonnet or Three Cornered Hat

Monday 27th May, 12pm - 3pm

Make your own Georgian bonnet or three corner hat and stay up to date with the latest Georgian fashions. A fun craft activity which is for all the family. Sessions are 45 minutes long and will run at 12-12.45, 1-1.45, and 2-2.45. Booking advisable.

Stupendous Science Sessions - Geology and Rocks

Tuesday 28th May, 12pm - 1pm and 2pm - 3pm

The next in our fantastic range of science sessions. join us to learn about the world of geology and find out why science 'rocks'! Sessions are 1 hour long and will run 12-1 and 2-3. Ideal for ages 7-11. Booking essential. £1 charge per child to help cover cost of materials but no other admission to the museum applies.

Georgian Paper Toys

Thursday 30th May, 12pm - 3pm

Learn about the toys of the past and make your own paper toys in this craft activity for all the family. Sessions are 45 minutes long and will run 12-12.45, 1-1.45, and 2-2.45. Booking advisable.
