Lancashire Museums Family Friendly activities offer something for everyone. We have a fantastic variety of events and exhibitions inspired by our collections that will entertain all the family.

Our aim is to inspire children and their families. Children love to explore and discover what's going on around them and our activities let them learn new skills while developing their creative imagination.

Come along and join in at any one of our family venues. New events are always being added so keep checking our website to find out more about our family activities.

Lancaster Maritime Museum

  • 'Yokey Dokey' - Duck Egg painting inspired by riverside wildlife
    Easter Monday 5th April - 11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm
    Free drop in session.
    All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please phone 01524 64637 to book a place.
  • Buildings Bonanza!
    Tuesday 6th April - 10.30am-12.30pm & 1.30pm-3.30pm. FREE!
    Family craft workshop with an Art tutor from the Adult College. Inspired by the historic buildings and architecture along the Quay - you will create your own riverside scenes.

  • Fantasy Fish
    Tuesday 13th April - 10.30am-12.30pm & 1.30pm-3.30pm. FREE!
    Family craft workshop with an Art tutor from the Adult College. Can you  imagine what creatures lurk below the waterline in the River Lune?

  • St George & Me
    Saturday 24th April - times to be confirmed
    Free drop in craft activities inspired by the legend of St George

All children must be accompanied by adults at all of these sessions.

 

Gawthorpe Hall

  • Easter Egg Trail
    Sunday 4th & Monday 5th April - 1pm-4pm
    Join in a hunt around the grounds of Gawthorpe Hall following the Easter Egg Trail.
    £1.50 per child - must be accompanied by an adult.
    Will be outside is the weather is permitting, if in the hall normal admission applies.
  • Upstairs, Downstairs
    Sunday 9th May - 1pm, 2pm & 3pm
    Meet the Butler & Housekeeper to find out more about how life was lived in the Victoria era at Gawthorpe Hall.
  • Classic Motorcycle Show
    Sunday 20th June - 12pm-4.30pm
    Bring dad for a real Father's Day treat - come and revel in some oil and grease with classic bikes on show from every era and interest, as well as Punch & Judy for the kids.
    £1.50 for adults, 50p children. All visitors must pay entry to the grounds.

Fabulous Fleetwood Holiday Crafts

Every Monday and Wednesday during school holidays.
Session times: 12.30pm-1.30pm or 2pm-3pm

31st May & 2nd June – Pirate Week

Every self-respecting pirate needs an eye patch and bandana before going in search of hidden treasure. Come along and turn yourself into a swashbuckling young thing complete with a beard, and even make your own pirate treasure.

26th July & 28th July
Explore Week!

Continuing our pirate theme get ready to go in search of hidden treasure. Make your own treasure map - remember, 'x' marks the spot! On Wednesday create a compass to help you on your way.

2nd August & 4th August
Porthole pictures

Budding young artists can spend this week getting creative with our arts and crafts sessions. Look out to sea and be inspired by the views of Morecambe Bay and design a view on Monday, and craft a porthole picture on Wednesday.

9th August & 11th August
Tropical Islands Treasure

Design your own treasure jewellery on Monday and craft a desert island on Wednesday

16th August & 18th August
Underwater Monsters!

Illustrate your monsters on Monday & Build your own on Wednesday
23rd August & 25th August

Mermaid/Merman or even monster mobiles!
Make your own dangly designs this week.

30th August & 1st September
Beach Bugs

Create your own rock creatures this week – make your own crab, paint a porpoise or why not even glitter a grouper!

25th October & 27th October

We have a frightfully fun programme of activities for you to enjoy on Monday 25th and Wednesday 27th October. Enjoy some ghoulish goings-on with our gory crafts on Monday and make a sea witch or come along on Wednesday and we'll get you into character with our face painting sessions.
